Specific Job General Wage Scale? The wisdom the former policy might logically questioned. practice assumes that the aver- age district rates various jobs proper relative alinement, and this generally not the case. result, the internal alinement rates longer remains func- tion the local management. Con- trol shifted outside manage- ments employing labor similar jobs. Moreover, the specific wage rates paid individual jobs may not reflect normal conditions within but rather just the con- verse. For these individual rates can reflect possible errors judg- ment establishing base rates; they can reflect special condition where the employee being paid rate commensurate with his own ability rather than the job’s re- quirements; and, they reflect condi- tions unusually close loose price setting the time study de- partment. Comparisons Continued The curves for company in- dicate that its semi-skilled jobs are paid out proportion the rest its wage scale. While these jobs are being paid above the district average, company “B’s” laboring rates and rates for the highest skilled jobs are still below the mar- ket. This cannot considered healthy condition, and the remedy could lie giving the major part are considerably above the district average, this advantage becomes progressively less the skill re- quirements become greater. This all very well. Some one may say, these are interesting pic- tures wage scales, but how ac- curate are they? All can say that they are accurate the evaluation made the jobs upon which they were based.
